The Experts Behind Your Smile

Meet The Doctors

Dr. Nick Gillis

Following in his father’s footsteps, Dr. Nick Gillis worked at Gillis Dentistry for five years before taking full ownership of the practice from his father, Dr. Robert Gillis. Dr. Robert Gillis was a former military dentist and veteran with over 30 years of service experience and 20 years of experience as a dental officer in The Canadian Armed Forces before opening Gillis Dentistry in 2000. Dr. Nick Gillis is proud to continue to serve the families of active duty Military members as his father did before him.

Dr. Gillis has a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Queen’s University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Toronto. He has been in Kingston since he was seven years old. A graduate of K.C.V.I high school and Queen’s University, he is a proud Kingstonian and always intended to return to the city after dental school.

Dr. Gillis’s passion to become a dentist started when he had the opportunity in high school to travel to India to help his father provide dental services to those living in the rural regions. He saw how relieving the dental pain of those in need brought so much happiness. He feels privileged to be able to provide dental care to residents here in the Kingston community and hopes to one day again follow in his fathers’ footsteps and service disadvantaged individuals abroad.

Dr. Gillis is committed to providing the best and most personal dental care services. He is trained to administer all forms of sedation including IV sedation. His patience and calm demeanor will allow any patient with dental anxiety to feel at ease. He is proficient and trained in multiple aspects of surgical dentistry including single tooth implants, implant supported dentures and the removal of wisdom teeth.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Gillis keeps active in the community by playing on local Kingston volleyball and basketball leagues. He and his wife can also be found on the golf course at Cataraqui Golf and Curling Club in the summer and on the ski slopes in the winter.

Dr. Evan Rees

Dr. Evan Rees has been working with Gillis Dentistry since graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Sydney in 2017. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Masters of Science in Pathology and Molecular Medicine from Queen’s University.

His interest and passion for dentistry was influenced by his father who was an oral and maxillofacial surgeon here in Kingston. Kingston has always been home for Dr. Rees and when a career opportunity presented itself at Gillis Dentistry, it could not have been more perfect for him.

Throughout his early professional dental career, Dr. Rees developed a keen interest in orthodontics and has taken additional courses on traditional bracket and wire orthodontics as well as Invisalign®.

Outside of the office, Dr. Rees enjoys spending time with his wife and toddler daughter who rules their household. His family is growing as they are expecting another daughter in the new year. Whenever he can find time, Dr. Rees enjoys golfing, boating, hunting, fishing and skiing. He has done a lot of travelling around the world and was lucky enough to combine his love for travel and dentistry when he volunteered and provided dental treatment in the Australian Outback and in rural Cambodia.
